According to two different reports, both Manchester United and Barcelona had emissaries sent to watch RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland in RB Salzburg’s thrashing of Genk in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Having been drawn into a very difficult Group C of UEFA’s elite competition this season, which, apart from Genk, features holders Liverpool and Serie A side Napoli, Salzburg got off to a flying start by running over the opposition from Belguim 6-2. Haaland took his goal tally for the season to an incredible 17 in all competitions with a first-half hat-trick, and speaking after the game, put his fantastic form down to hard work. It’s safe to say that if scouts from United and Barcelona, if they were indeed there to watch the 19-year-old, were impressed by what they saw.
It was Austrian outlet Salzburger Nachrichten who reported that people from the Premier League club were there, while Mundo Deportivo spoke about the La Liga champions.
