Barcelona have dismissed reports suggesting they are preparing a bid for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to the Independent.
The Argentina international has caught the eye with a string of impressive performances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, leading a number of clubs, including the Spanish champions, to be linked with a move for his services.
However, Josep Bartomeu, vice-president of the Catalan club, has confirmed that there has been no contact with the former Atletico Madrid man.
City have also moved to insist that their star striker, who moved to the Etihad Stadium in July 2011, is not for sale.
His opener in the 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion was his seventeenth goal in all competitions so far this season, with eleven strikes coming in the English top fight.
He is currently second behind Liverpool’s Luis Suarez in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, and can be backed at 5/2 to finish as the division’s top scorer.
