(GSM) – Barcelona’s technical secretary Txiki Begiristain has denied that the Catalan club had brokered a deal with Arsenal to not to try and bring Spain international Cesc Fabregas back to Camp Nou.
Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood claimed on Wednesday that informal talks between the clubs had taken place over Fabregas’ future with Barcelona agreeing that they would not be making a move for the 22-year-old this summer.
Barcelona were happy with their current crop of players and the need for their long-term interest in the talented playmaker, who left the Catalan giants as a teenager in September 2003, was not there.
However, Txiki Begiristain insists nothing has been agreed with Arsenaland that if they want Fabregas they will hold transfer talks
“If Barcelona think that he is necessary for the team, they will go for him, always respecting negotiations,” he told Spanish newspaper AS.
“We have never said that we will not try to sign Cesc Fabregas. We will see what happens.”
