(GSM) – Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano thinks his team is ready to take on Barcelona this season but notes that Barca are currently enjoing “a miracle generation”.
Valdano told Marca he’s impressed by the new arrivals at Real but also revealed that the period of transformation at the Bernabeu is not yet complete and added that the changes will be completed next summer.
The Argentinian knows Los Blancos will have to become stronger in order to keep Barcelona from continuing their title.
“Barca don’t lose and that forces us not to drop points. Barca currently enjoy a miracle generation. It is very difficult when a single team can have Xavi, Iniesta and Messi,” he said before noting that his team have adapted well in the period of change at the club.
“The new coach and a change in playing style and the adaptation of eight new players gave us great uncertainty but all who have joined us have been so useful, they have all been met or exceeded expectations.
“Real Madrid have known from the first minute that Barca posed a major challenge. We made a great effort in June to transform not only the team but the club and the transformation will end next summer.
“We know whom we are competing with and we’re going to fight until the end of this season and next. Madrid only play to win.”
