(GSM) – Barcelona expect their record breaking manager, Pep Guardiola, to extend his contract on Wednesday.
The former Camp Nou midfielder, who took charge of the Catalan club in 2008 following a spell as boss of their B team, has made history with the Catalan giants after a memorable first year.
Guardiola has already led Barcelona to seven titles in two seasons, including the 2009 UEFA Champions League and two successive La Liga crowns, while playing incredibly attractive football at the same time.
Barcelona are therefore understandably keen to secure the long-term services of the Spaniard.
A verbal agreement was made in January to stay on until the end of next season and a further deal is now close, with Barcelona saying on their official website: “The expected announcement of Guardiola’s continued presence on the bench is a reality.”
