Spanish media outlet AS claims that Barcelona were told that Atletico Madrid forward Angel Correa was not for sale.
The Catalans head coach Luis Enrique has been frantically searching for high-quality forwards to act as back-up for the MSN trio, but he has so far had very little success.
AS has now learned that Barcelona’s approach for Atletico Madrid starlet Angel Correa was rejected as los Colchoneros have no intention of selling their prized asset.
The youngster has shown a great deal of potential after arriving from San Lorenzo, scoring five goals in 26 La Liga outings, despite only making eight starts.
Correa did well to move in front of Luciano Vietto in the pecking order and he is expected to become a key member of the side at Vicente Calderon in years to come.
At the same time, Barcelona have also been showing interest in Vietto, who had impressed playing for Villarreal, and, as things stand now, they have a better chance of luring him to Camp Nou than Correa.
