Barca in for Arsenal man?

The Metro are today reporting that Barcelona could make a shock move for Arsenal central defender Laurent Koscielny.

The La Liga giants have made a new centre-back their big priority in this transfer window after the fitness problems of Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique last campaign.

They could now make a move for the Frenchman, who had been set to open contract talks with the Gunners.

Barcelona had made Thiago Silva their big target for the summer, however he looks set to make a move to French side PSG which means they could now look to lure Koscielny from the Emirates Stadium.

The 26-year-old put in some great performances for Arsene Wenger’s side last season and was there main man at the back. These performances look to have caught the attention of the Catalan club.

Koscielny would surely be interested in a move to the La Liga runners-up, who are of course giants in the European game. That said though, the ball is in Arsenal’s court as his current contract goes on until 2014.

This is a story that not many people would have been expecting, and is another fascinating one to keep an eye on, what will happen?
