After selling Lucas Digne to Everton this summer, Barcelona intend to sign a left back to act as a backup to first-choice Jordi Alba and are considering their options, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Manager Ernesto Valverde had hoped either Marc Cucurella or Juan Miranda would be able to fill in for Digne, but after a few competitive games he has changed his mind and would now sign a player of more experience. The problem is, the club has set the centre-midfield area as the top priority and the funds for a left-sided defender would at the moment be very limited. That would turn them away from dream targets such as David Alaba. The names they are considering at the moment are Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis, Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal and Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno.
All three of these targets seem attainable at a reasonable price, especially Moreno who has fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool behind Andy Robertson.
