Barca keen on Douglas Costa; PSG place €50m price tag on Matuidi

hot-transfer-newsBarca keen on Douglas Costa

Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Douglas Costa.

The Camp Nou outfit is in the market for attacking reinforcements given that Pedro Rodriguez is currently the only serious back-up to starting trio Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

But, with the Spain international heavily linked with a summer exit, the Catalans desperately need to add another high-profile forward to their ranks.

Seeing as their primary target Marco Reus has signed a new deal with Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona have turned their attention towards Shakhtar’s Douglas Costa.

The Catalans have been keeping close tabs on the winger for over two years now and they will make another check when Bayern host Shakhtar later today.

Douglas Costa, 24, has managed 36 goals and 38 assists in 190 competitive appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk and he is expected to leave the Pitmen for a top European club at the end of the season.

PSG place €50m price tag on Matuidi

French giants Paris Saint-Germain will not even consider bids lower than €50 million for star player Blaise Matuidi, according to L’Equipe.

The highly rated midfielder has a long list of admirers in English Premier League, but it would appear as though he has no plans to leave the Saints this summer.

Nevertheless, the player’s agents have made it clear that their client would consider a serious offer from a top English side, although the latest reports suggest it would take a mega money bid to prize Matuidi away from Parc des Princes.

Namely, PSG have informed interested clubs that they have set a €50 million asking price for their prized asset, as they clearly want the France international to remain at the club for as long as possible.

Blaise Matuidi has been in excellent form ever since he joined the Saints from St Etienne, bagging 12 goals in 128 league outings.

The 27-year-old will be in the starting line-up when PSG face Chelsea in the return leg of the Champions League last 16 stage tie, where the Saints are 43/23 to qualify for the next round.

Wallace wants Monaco stay

Brazilian defender Wallace Fortuna dos Santos hopes to remain at Monaco beyond the current season.

The 20-year-old joined Sporting Braga from Cruzeiro last summer, but he was then loaned to the French side after failing to prove his worth in Portugal.

Wallace has since done well to make eight appearances for the Principality club in Ligue 1, while featuring in another three Champions League matches.

As a result, the talented centre-back has no plans to return to Sporting Braga and would prefer to make a permanent switch to Monaco.

“I was at Braga, where I could not play as a starter, but now I am at a club that plays in major competitions such as Champions League. I hope to stay!,” the youngster confessed to O Globo.

Wallace has been deputizing for veteran Ricardo Carvalho of late and he has helped Monaco keep six clean sheets in seven league starts.
