Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to sign Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, El Mundo Deportivo has revealed.
Catalans sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is looking at number of high-profile keepers in his attempt to find a long-term replacement for Victor Valdes.
Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita is one of the first names on the list, but luring the talented footballer to Camp Nou could prove to be a difficult task.
He has only recently extended his contract at Mestalla until June 2015, with his release clause currently standing at €30 million.
Given that Diego Alves is hoping to leave in the summer, los Che are keen to hold on to Guaita, although the difficult financial situation means the club would be unable to resist a big money offer from Barcelona.
Should the 26-year-old leave the club at the end of the current campaign, Valencia officials will attempt to sign Ajax and Netherlands number one Keneth Vermeer.
