Catalan daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Aymeric Laporte and Marquinhos are the first two names on Barcelona’s hit-list when it comes to defensive reinforcements.
It is no secret that the Catalans aim to rejuvenate their back line and recruit a centre-back that would be an integral part of the team in years to come.
And with Bayern Munich’s David Alaba proving an unrealistic target, everything suggests that one of Aymeric Laporte or Marquinhos will be arriving at Camp Nou in the summer.
The Catalans are not only impressed by the players’ football qualities, but also their desire to play for Barcelona.
They have yet to make a decision on their primary target, but the transfer fee could eventually have a major role to play.
Namely, while Athletic value Laporte at €50 million and have no plans to lower the asking price, Marquinhos could be available for less than the €40 million PSG requested last summer.
