El Mundo Deportivo has revealed that Barcelona have offered €35 million for Fiorentina star Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
The Catalans were keen on the Colombian star as they saw him as a perfect long-term replacement for Daniel Alves, with his versatility also considered a major asset.
And while there were conflicting reports about how much money Barcelona were prepared to offer for the 26-year-old, El Mundo Deportivo understands that the Catalans actually submitted a €35 million proposal.
While Fiorentina were prepared to lower their asking price to €45 million, Barcelona officials did not want to increase their offer having had already spent over €150 million on new players.
At the same time, the Catalans offered €35 million for PSG’s Marquinhos, failing to lure the Brazilian to Camp Nou as well.
After losing the league title on the final day of last season, Barcelona are 10/11 to lift the La Liga trophy this term.
