Barca plan shock Van Persie move

Barcelona have been linked with a shock move for Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie, according to TalkSport.

The Catalan club are keen on bringing in a new centre forward to support attackers Lionel Messi and Neymar, and manager Tata Martino is confident he can prise the Dutch international away from Old Trafford.

United manager David Moyes has strenuously denied reports suggesting that Van Persie has handed in a transfer request though Barca are keen to capitalise on the English champions’ poor start to the season.

Their loss to Newcastle United on Saturday lunchtime was their second in front of their home fans in the space of four days, and left them thirteen points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Van Persie, who has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot two years in succession, has seven so far this season, and is priced at 12/1 to finish as top scorer this time around.
