Radio Catalunya claims that French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was offered to Barcelona in the summer.
Tottenham completed the signing of the talented keeper on transfer deadline day, but they could have easily missed out on the player.
Namely, according to Radio Catalunya, Lloris had been offered to Barcelona in the summer, but the Catalans rejected the approach.
The 25-year-old has had a difficult start to his career at White Hart Lane, having started just one Premier League game for Spurs.
Lloris faces a tough battle with veteran keeper Brad Friedel for the number one spot, even if the Frenchman believed he would be automatic first choice in North London.
The France international will be up against a number of Barcelona players when Spain host les Bleus in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers at Vicente Calderon on Tuesday.
