Barcelona will be looking to sell Philippe Coutinho this summer for €100 million, according to Sport.
Apparently, a sort of a chess game has started between the Catalan club and the Brazilian’s representatives, in which both sides want the same thing – to find an exit rout for Coutinho, but neither has shown it’s hand to the other yet.
The playmaker arrived to the Camp Nou from Liverpool in January last year for a fee that had been set to reach up to €160 million, but as it seems Coutinho will leave the club without a Champions League trophy to his name the actual fee is set to be somewhat shorter than that. Liverpool, who were the ones to kick the Blaugrana out of UEFA’s elite competition in a stunning semifinal comeback, won’t be too sorry about it as the money they will make for reaching the final outweighs that difference.
Barcelona, however, need the money. They’ve secured the services of Frenkie de Jong of Ajax and believe his teammate Matthijs de Ligt is on the way too, and they seem to be the favorites to land Antoine Griezmann after they failed to sign the Frenchman last summer.
