Barca step up chase for Nolito
Catalan daily newspaper El Mundo Deportivo has suggested that Barcelona have made signing Celta Vigo hotshot Nolito their number one priority in the January window.
The Catalans found themselves in all sorts of problems as Leo Messi and Andres Iniesta suffered injuries, with Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez the only two options to complete the attacking trio with Neymar and Suarez.
As a result, Luis Enrique is eager to recruit a player who can slot straight into the starting line-up and Celta’s Nolito is the obvious choice.
The coach has spent three years working with the 29-year-old footballer at Camp Nou and Balaidos, and he is convinced the Spain international has what it takes to play at the highest level.
With Nolito keen on returning to Barcelona and his release clause standing at mere €18 million, a January move to Catalunya appears on the cards.
The highly rated footballer is in the Spain squad to face Luxembourg, where La Furia Roja is 11/10 to win by five goals or more.
William to extend Sporting stay
Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho could soon be signing a new deal with the club, according to A Bola.
The Portugal international has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs after putting in some impressive showings for the Lions, but it looks as though the club chiefs are determined to keep hold of his services for a while longer.
The latest reports suggest that Sporting officials have opened talks over a new contract for their star player that would see his salary significantly increased.
William Carvalho has a deal until June 2018 at Estadio Jose Alvalade, and he is in line to get a two-year extension if everything goes according to the plan.
The 23-year-old only recently returned into action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines and that was the reason why he was left out of Portugal squad for the final two Euro 2016 qualifiers.
Carvalho had made five appearances for the Selecao during the current qualifying campaign, starting two of those matches.
Yuri Zhirkov set for Dynamo exit
Russia international midfielder Yuri Zhirkov is set to leave Dynamo Moscow in the winter, Izvestia can reveal.
The Russian giants have offloaded a number of high-profile players as they aim to seriously trim down the wage budget and the clearout is set to continue.
After it was revealed that Dynamo was looking to cash in on Alexey Ionov, the latest reports suggest that Yuri Zhirkov will be sold as well.
The 32-year-old currently earns around €4 million per season, which makes him one of the highest paid footballers in the entire league.
As a result, Dynamo are ready to listen to offers for his services, with Zenit and Lokomotiv Moscow ready to pounce.
Zenit even came close to recruiting Zhirkov in the summer transfer window and they remain the favourites for his signature.
