Barcelona are stepping up their effort to sign Luka Jović, currently on loan at Eintrach Frankfurt from Benfica, according to Sport. They apparently consider the Serbia international among the brightest attacking talents in Europe, and the best possible candidate to be a long-term replacement for the 32-year-old Luis Suarez.
Barca’s sporting director Eric Abidal has been scouting Jović for a while now, and that hasn’t been kept a secret. He was in Lisbon on Monday with the intention of watching the striker play against Portugal, but he left the Estadio da Luz disappointed as coach Mladen Krstajić opted to leave Jović on the bench for the entire game.
Nonetheless, the Catalan club have decided to go ahead and sign the 21-year-old if possible. They will be facing some tough competition with a number of clubs across the continent linked with the talented youngster, but Abidal made sure his trip to Portugal wasn’t entirely in vain by speaking to Jović’s representatives again, expressing Barca’s interest in his services further.
