Barcelona are set to hold another round of talks with Arthur Melo, in order to try and convince the former Gremio midfielder to accept the move to Juventus which has been put in front of him, according to Tuttosport.
The Catalans are trying desperately to bring midfielder Miralem Pjanic and defender Mattia de Sciglio from Juventus to the Camp Nou, but given the lack of funds to buy those players outright, a swap deal is perceived as the only option to get it done this summer. Juventus would accept Arthur as part of the exchange, but the 23-year-old Brazilian has so far shown strong determination to stay where he is.
Until quite recently, Barcelona maintained a stance that they wouldn’t force Arthur into the transfer, but it seems they’re trying to put some pressure on him at this point. Coach Quique Setien left him out of the starting XI in their 0-4 triumph away to Mallorca on Saturday, and even though that wasn’t a big surprise in itself, the report suggests that there’s more of that to come in order to make it clear to the player that they want him to leave.
