According to Radio Catalunya, Barcelona would very much like to part ways with Philippe Coutinho permanently before this transfer window closes on Friday, as they seek for finds to sign a new striker.
In what looks like a horrible mistake now, the La Liga champions signed the Brazilian two years ago from Liverpool for €160 million, after a long saga which saw him attempt different methods of forcing a way out of the Merseyside club. In 18 months he spent at Camp Nou after that, he wasn’t able to convince either the recently sacked head coach Ernesto Valverde, or the Barca faithful, that he can contribute to their cause sufficiently to warrant a place in the team and justify the hefty price-tag.
He was sent to Bayern Munich on a season-long loan with an option to buy last summer, but the Bavarians reportedly aren’t particularly keen on paying the fee required to trigger the option, set at €120m. Nonetheless, Bayern have been informed of Barcelona’s intention to sell, even for a price less than that, providing it happens before this month is out.
