RAC1 understands that Barcelona youngster Sergi Palencia is set to be rewarded with a new and improved deal at Camp Nou.
The Spanish media started taking an interest in the 19-year-old amidst doubts surrounding the future of Dani Alves, and the right-back is already regarded as a hot prospect for the future.
But, with his current deal due to expire in June 2016, the club officials had to take action and are now very close to tying the youngster down to a new long-term contract.
According to the latest reports, Palencia will sign a three-year deal with the Catalans that will contain a €12 million release clause and numerous bonuses for first team appearances.
Having only recently been promoted to the reserve squad, the talented defender will continue to represent Barcelona II in Spanish Segunda, but chances are he will soon start getting opportunities to play for the senior side as well.
