Antoine Griezmann has informed Atletico Madrid about his desire to leave Wanda Metropolitano this summer, and he has been heavily linked with Barcelona following the Catalans’ failed attempt to sign him 12 months ago. Barcelona’s defeat in the semifinal of the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool has highlighted the club’s need to sign more quality players, but it remains unclear whether they will actually sign Griezmann.
According to Sport, some of Barca’s leading names in the dressing room have a problem with adding the Frenchman to their ranks. President Josep Maria Bartomeu was certain the deal was done, but now, given the change of atmosphere in the team, he has been forced to reconsider whether to proceed with it.
With both Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele unable to fill the void left by the departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, bringing Griezmann in would certainly make sense from a strictly footballing point of view, but the mood of the dressing room, especially a dressing room like the Camp Nou one, is obviously a big factor too.
