Barca’s Montoya wants January exit

Barcelona defender Martin Montoya is looking to leave Camp Nou in the winter transfer window, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The 23-year-old is currently behind both Dani Alves and Douglas Pereira in the pecking order, and he is no longer prepared to wait for his chance in Catalunya.

Montoya’s representative Juan de Dios Carrasco has informed sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta of his client’s wishes at a meeting held yesterday.

Taking into account their transfer ban, Barcelona did not expect to see any players leave in January, but given the number of options on the right hand side, they may decide to cash in on Montoya after all.

The talented footballer does not want to leave the Catalans on loan, although he could accept a temporary move if the deal also includes an option to buy.

Martin Montoya came through the youth ranks at the famous La Masia and has made a total of 38 league appearances for Barcelona.
