Barcelona are not interested in selling young forward Cristian Tello, Catalan daily Sport has revealed.
The talented player has less than a year left on his deal at Camp Nou and his representatives are currently negotiating a contract renewal with Barcelona officials.
The negotiations were thought to be entering the final stage, but the player’s representative has moved to deny the reports.
“We have not reached an agreement, there is a lot to negotiate,” agent Josep Maria Orobitg was quoted as saying in Sport.
After the player was not assigned a number for the 2012/2013 La Liga season, he was linked with a summer exit from Camp Nou, but Sport claims Barcelona do not want to let the highly rated forward leave the club.
The Catalans believe they can persuade the player into signing a new deal at Camp Nou and are not willing to negotiate his sale.
The 21-year-old was handed a first team debut by Pep Guardiola last season and went on to score 3 goals in 15 La Liga appearances.
