Holders Barcelona crushed Wolfsburg at the Estadi Johan Cruyff 6-1 to bring up a 10-2 aggregate success in the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.

The two-time defending champions put one foot in the last four with a routine 4-1 win in Germany last week, with Salma Paralluelo among the goals.

The Spain winger was one of two Barca players to get a brace in Thursday’s second leg alongside Claudia Pina, as they responded to Sunday’s first-ever Clasico loss to Real Madrid.

Paralluelo scored twice in the first 20 minutes to kill off any slim hopes of a Wolfsburg fightback, then Esmee Brugts found the bottom-left corner from the edge of the area for 3-0.

In complete control of the tie, the hosts withdrew Irene Paredes and Ewa Pajor, and having replaced the latter, Pina scored off an Alexia Putellas assist in the 62nd minute.

Goalkeeper Cata Coll saw an error punished by Lineth Beerensteyn as Wolfsburg pulled a goal back, but two wonderful dead-ball strikes saw Barca bring up double figures for the tie.

Pina sent a stunning free-kick past Anneke Borbe with 13 minutes to play, then Mapi Leon did likewise in stoppage time as Barca coasted into the last eight, where they will face Chelsea or Manchester City.

Data debrief: Blaugrana run riot

Barcelona showcased some remarkable finishing on Thursday, scoring their six goals from 21 shots with a total value of just 1.78 expected goals (xG).

They have now scored 36 goals in their eight Champions League matches this season, at least 11 more than any other team has managed (Lyon have scored 25).

Only in two campaigns (40 in 2022-23 and 38 in 2021-22) in the competition have the Blaugrana ever fared better.

Pina’s brace off the bench took her to seven goals in this season’s Champions League, one clear of Arsenal’s Alessia Russo – who could be a potential final opponent – at the top of the scoring charts.
