German magazine Kicker has suggested that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos.
The highly rated footballer has just a year left on his deal at Alianz Arena and is widely tipped to quit the Bavarians this summer.
Manchester United are believed to be leading the chase at the moment, but Kicker claims Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping close tabs as well.
According to the same source, the Catalans have already contacted his representatives to submit an official proposal as they search a long-term replacement for Xavi Hernandez.
Kroos is highly unlikely to make a decision on his future before the World Cup ends, but he is likely to be tempted by the proposal from Barcelona.
The 24-year-old will be out to help Germany secure their place in the World Cup knockout stages when they face USA, with Die Mannschaft 4/6 favourites at the bookies.
