Spanish giants Barcelona are reportedly closing in on Schalke hotshot Leroy Sane, according to L’Equipe.
A number of top European sides are vying for the youngster’s signature at the moment, but the French media outlet understands that the Catalans have moved to the front of the queue.
The same source has suggested that Barcelona plan to match Sane’s €37 million release clause ahead of the summer transfer window.
It is no secret that the Catalans don’t have a lot of money to spend in January, but they will have considerable transfer funds ahead of the new campaign.
L’Equipe claims that Sane has already agreed a six-year contract with Barcelona that comes into effect on 1 July.
Leroy Sane exploded onto the biggest stage last season, and he has been even more impressive in the current campaign.
And as much as Schalke bosses would love for the 20-year-old to remain at Veltins Arena for a couple more years, that looks unlikely to happen.
