Spanish giants Barcelona are close to wrapping up a deal for Lyon defender Samual Umtiti, El Mundo Deportivo has learned.
The Catalans need to recruit at least two central defenders now that Marc Bartra has joined Borussia Dortmund, and they appear to have turned their attention towards the France international.
Seeing that Barcelona have been priced out of moves for John Stones, Marquinhos and Aymeric Laporte, the €25 million asking price for Umtiti seems quite tempting.
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has decided to cash in on the centre-back and instead keep hold of Alexandre Lacazette, as he believes that the striker is much more important player for les Gones.
The two clubs are currently negotiating a transfer fee, but bar any surprises, Umtiti should soon sign a long-term contract at Camp Nou.
The 22-year-old was added to France Euro 2016 squad after Raphael Varane had picked up an injury, with Les Bleus 3/10 favourites to win the opening fixture vs Romania.
