Barcelona are close to reaching an agreement to sign Franck Kessie from AC Milan on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to multiple sources. Apparently, nothing has been signed as of yet but all the paperwork is being prepared at the moment.
Kessie joined Milan from Atalanta in the summer of 2019 for a reported fee of close to €25 million. Since the, he’s gone on to make a total of 213 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri, scoring 36 goals and providing 16 assists for others to score. Though primarily a defensive midfielder, he is very capable of playing anywhere in midfield.
Milan were obviously keen to tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract, but Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez, as well as former Barcelona and Ivory Coast player Yaya Toure, are said to have personally convinced him to make the switch and leave San Siro for the Camp Nou.
The Catalan club are set to pay Kessie a sign-on fee, along with the wages of €6.5m per season.
