Having failed to adapt to the style and the system at Barcelona since his big-money move from Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho had lost his confidence at the Camp Nou and it was obviously best for both player and club that he should leave. With no suitor willing to fork out the money that the Catalans would deem acceptable, he was sent out on loan to Bayern Munich for the season, at the end of which the Bundesliga champions will have the option of signing him for €120 million.
According to Marca, at Barcelona they haven’t forgotten about the Brazilian. They’ve apparently been to watch his games in Germany, and they are glad that the role given to him by coach Niko Kovac, that of a central attacking midfielder rather than left wing, has made him shine again as he did for Liverpool. It makes them confident that Bayern will choose to exercise the option to make the deal permanent, which would significantly increase the funds at their disposal as they seek for fresh signings of their own next summer.
