Barcelona cool interest in Maxime Lopez

El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Barcelona seem ready to drop interest in Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez.

The Catalans have been hot on the trail of the 19-year-old footballer for a year or so, but they have yet to make their move.

According to reports from Spain, Barcelona officials have been far from impressed with Lopez’s latest performances and in turn decided to explore other targets.

The Catalans will instead make their move on Schalke star Leon Goretzka, who will be out of contract in the summer, although the Germany international is unlikely to be leaving in January.

Goretzka should play a part in Germany’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland, where die Mannschaft are 3/10 to claim maximum points.
