Barcelona end pursuit of Hector Bellerin

Spanish champions Barcelona were linked with Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin earlier in the summer with Gunners star reportedly being lined up as a perfect replacement for Dani Alves, who departed for Juventus.

However, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans have given up on signing the Arsenal defender.

Luis Enrique had been reportedly put off by Bellerin’s unavailability, Arsenal’s unwillingness to sell at any price and the fact that Barcelona decided to lay their faith into the hands of Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal.

It is also reported that La Liga champions are unlikely to return for Bellerin in future as they are looking to explore other options for the position, preferably a younger defender they can mould for the future.

Hector Bellerin made 36 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season and was one of the highlight performers for Wenger’s side adding one goal to his name in the process as well.
