Barcelona are exploring the possibility of signing Borja Inglesias from Real Betis, according to Sport.
The La Liga champions have been dealt two huge injury blows in a very short time, with forwards Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele both out for several months. With the problem with Dembele yet to come at the time, they ended up not adding anyone to their attacking ranks in January, despite showing interest in Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and coming very close to completing a deal for Rodrigo Moreno of Valencia.
They are now in serious trouble, with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann their only remaining senior attacking options along with young Ansu Fati.
However, it has been revealed that they could still be allowed to sign a player outside of any transfer window, providing the newcomer would be coming in as a replacement for a player out for at least five months, and it could only be a player either already in Spain, or a free agent.
They’ve apparently sounded out Iglesias, who has so far bagged six goals in 26 appearances for Betis this season and made contact with the player to check if he would be interested in a move, before starting talks with his club.
