Barcelona are pursuing a deal to sign Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense, according to AS. Apparently, the Catalan club consider the Brazilian teenager quite a revelation and are keen to get ahead of any potential competitors for his signature.
Roque took his first football steps at America MG, which he left to join Cruzeiro at the Under-17 level. Athletico Paranaense made their move and signed him for a reported fee of around €4.7 million in April last year. Since then, he’s gone on to score 11 goals and produce three assists in 42 appearances for his current club, and even earned his debut as a senior Brazil international last month, playing 25 minutes of a friendly loss to Morocco.
Primarily a central attacker, Roque is quite capable of playing on either flank, and his talents are attracting attention from other clubs across Europe as well.
With the 18-year-old’s contract running until the end of May, 2027, Athletico are in a strong position when it comes to any transfer negotiations, and they’ve apparently rejected a €25 million offer from Barcelona already.
