Barcelona eyeing Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez

Premier league outfit Everton have received stiff competition in their race for the signature of highly-rated Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez.

The 20-year-old Colombia international joined Dutch giants from Atletico Nacional during the summer transfer window, but was quick to impress over the six months spent at the club and catch the attention of several Europe’s top-level clubs including the Spanish champions Barcelona.

The Catalans are actively seeking defensive solutions and are expected to make moves during the January transfer window in order to reinforce their back line and British media outlet The Sun claim that Davinson Sanchez is topping the transfer wish list.

Barcelona sit in the front row for the signature of the Colombian international who hasn’t yet been able to meet the requirements for a work permit for a Premier league move.

Sanchez has so far made 13 league appearances for Ajax, scoring two goals in the process.
