Mundo Deportivo understands that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Atletico Madrid centre-back Lucas Hernandez.
The Catalans began to rejuvenate their defence in the summer having signed Samuel Umtiti, and they plan to add another highly rated youngster to their ranks in the near future.
Even though they have also been looking at Mauricio Lemos, Yerry Mina and Aymeric Laporte, Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez has emerged as their primary target.
The Catalans previously wanted to recruit his teammate Jose Maria Gimenez, but eventually gave up on the Uruguayan as Atletico Madrid demanded too much money for his services.
Barcelona officials now plan to make a move on Lucas Hernandez, who should be available at a reasonable price, especially given that he has made just two league appearances this season.
But, having shown a great deal of potential near the end of the previous campaign, the Frenchman is seen as a very good addition to the squad.
