Mundo Deportivo understands that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Valencia goalkeeper Diego Alves.
The Catalans have been disappointed with the performances of new number one Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was at fault for two goals in weekend’s 4-3 loss to Celta Vigo.
As a result, Barcelona may decide to sign a new shot-stopper in the January window, with Diego Alves reportedly their number one target.
The Catalans sporting director Robert Fernandez watched the Brazilian in action as Valencia played host to Atletico Madrid, and his trip to Mestalla proved worthwhile as Alves saved two penalties in the 2-0 defeat.
Barcelona have been following the 31-year-old for quite some time, and they could finally step up their interest.
Diego Alves is widely regarded as one of world’s best penalty savers, having saved no fewer than 19 spot-kicks from 41 attempts in La Liga.
