Barcelona eyeing former Real defender

El Mundo Deportivo has learned that Barcelona are hot on the trail of Rio Ave full-back Fabinho Henrique Tavares.

With doubts surrounding the future of Dani Alves, Martin Montoya and Douglas Perreira, the Catalans are actively looking at several right-sided defenders.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona officials are currently keeping close tabs on Rio Ave’s Fabinho.

The 21-year-old, who had enjoyed a season-long loan spell at Real Madrid, is currently on loan at Monaco, and it is quite surprising that the Principality club haven’t already signed him on permanent basis.

Barcelona now hope to hijack Monaco’s bid for the highly rated footballer, with sporting director Ariedo Braida impressed with the Brazilian.

The Italian watched Fabinho in action several times this season and he is convinced the youngster has what it takes to play at the highest level.

The Brazilian has been almost ever present for Monaco this term, making 32 league appearances and featuring in 10 Champions League fixtures.
