Uruguayan Radio 1010 has learned that La Liga champions Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Liverpool Montevideo youngster Nicolas De La Cruz.
The 19-year-old managed to catch the eye of the Catalan scouts and the club are expected to step up their interest soon enough.
According to the same source, Barcelona officials have even asked Luis Suarez about his opinion on the talented midfielder.
Nicolas De La Cruz is already a first team regular at Liverpool Montevideo, where he has managed 4 goals and 2 assists in 11 league outings last term.
The youngster has also helped Uruguay secure their place at the next Under-20 World Cup, having scored 3 goals in seven appearances at the Under-20 South American Championship.
Barcelona have clearly emerged as favourites for De La Cruz’s signature and they will attempt to secure his services before other interested sides have time to act.
