According to a recent report from Sport, Barcelona have made a push to sign Raphinha from Leeds United.
The belief is that the club is preparing for life without Ousmane Dembele given that he’s been tipped to depart the Nou Camp in the months to come.
His contract will expire during the summer transfer window with Raphinha being pinpointed as the perfect replacement.
Leeds will do everything in their power to keep hold of him but even if they manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League, they may still struggle to keep someone of his stature on the books – especially financially.
Barca have had their fair share of financial issues but since the introduction of Xavi as the club’s new manager, in addition to freeing up some space within their squad, they appear to be faring much better.
Moving forward, Raphinha could be exactly the kind of ‘moneyball’ player they’re after.
