Barcelona and Real Madrid are both reportedly interested in signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan in the summer and there appears to be a huge transfer battle between the Spanish giants on the horizon.
However, AS believe that the Catalans hold a strong advantage over their arch-rivals from the capital. With clubs allowed to register only three non-EU nationals in their squad, Real have already filled that quota with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao and it’s not to be expected they would want to part ways with any of them as they’re all considered stars of the future.
On the other hand, only Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal occupy the three slots at Barcelona, and what’s more, Inter’s reported interest in Vidal could play ‘nicely’ into the hands of the Blaugrana in terms of negotiating a deal for Lautaro. At Camp Nou, the 23-year-old Argentinian is seen as the perfect option to replace 33-year-old Luis Suarez in the long run.
