Catalan daily newspaper Sport is reporting that Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu.
It is no secret that the Catalans are in the market to sign a back up to Sergio Busquets and they will make their move in the summer transfer window.
But, while they had previously been linked with several high-profile footballers, their latest target is somewhat a surprise.
Namely, Sport claims that Barcelona are thinking about offering Oriol Romeu a chance to return to Camp Nou following a successful spell with Southampton.
The Spaniard has managed to kick-start his career at St Mary’s and he recently signed a new deal until June 2021.
Romeu has been virtually ever present for the Saints this season, starting 25 of 26 Premier League fixtures, but he probably didn’t expect to hear back from Barcelona.
The holding midfielder had spent eight years with the Catalans during his first spell, albeit making just one La Liga outing.
