Barcelona have contacted Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera with a view of luring him to Camp Nou, according to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.
The same source has suggested that Catalans officials have been in talks with the player’s representatives over a potential move to Camp Nou.
Barcelona chiefs are looking to add more fresh blood to the centre of the park and they are convinced the Spain international would be a quality addition to the squad.
Catalans sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has an excellent relationship with Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa and he could take advantage of their friendship to sign Herrera in the summer.
Ander Herrera has been attracting interest of top European clubs following some scintillating displays last season, but he has failed to replicate the form this term.
The 23-year-old is, nonetheless, still held in high regard and chances are he will soon be leaving San Mames for greener pastures.
