Barcelona are tracking the development of 16-year-old Naci Unuvar, according to Sport. The youngster plays for Ajax and is currently wearing the Netherlands shirt at the U-17 World Cup in Brazil, where the Catalan club have sent scouts to watch his performances.
His team haven’t had the greatest of starts in this tournament, having lost their two opening matches. But Unuvar says he is fully focused on the task at hand, rather than thinking about interest from big clubs. He said he was flattered by the attention of Barcelona, but their messages have taken a back seat at the moment, at least until the Brazil adventure is over.
The La Liga champions’ interest was first aroused when the young attacking midfielder scored twice in the first game ever played at the Johann Cruyff Arena, earning Ajax’s U-19 side a 2-0 win over their Barcelona counterparts. Apart from playing in the hole behind a striker, Unuvar is also highly effective when deployed in a wide attacking role.
