According to a recent report from Sport, Premier League champions Manchester City are going to be facing some stiff competition from La Liga champions Barcelona in the race to sign Juventus defender Joao Cancelo. It’s no secret that the Juve full-back is edging closer and closer towards leaving the club within the next few weeks, and it’s clear to see that City are, or at least were, the leading contenders in the race for his signature.
Barca have a series of other deals to worry about between now and the end of the summer transfer window, which begs the question: just how invested are they in the possibility of a move for Cancelo?
Defensively speaking they’re already pretty strong, and it really comes down to whether or not they want further back-up. City, on the other hand, would see Cancelo as a big step towards them achieving their goal of winning the Champions League next season.
