Barcelona are interested in signing Ryan Sessegnon from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Sky Sports.
Spurs had a tough job on their hands to bring in the player, capable as operating in any role on the left side of the pitch, from Fulham in the first place. They eventually succeeded, paying a £25 million fee for his signature last summer.
However, the 20-year-old appears to have failed to meet the expectations in north London under both Mauricio Pochettino early on and Jose Mourinho now. He has made a total of 12 appearances in all competitions this season, only four of which were starts in the Premier League.
But despite all that, Barcelona obviously believe Sessegnon has great potential and right now, they see him as a suitable backup option and a potential long-term replacement for 31-year-old left-back Jordi Alba.
Prizing him away from Spurs probably won’t be an easy task, though. He has five years left on his contract and it isn’t very likely that they would give up on such a young, obviously talented player after only one campaign.
