The Spanish Under-21 international Jorge Mere is becoming one of the hottest transfer commodities this summer.
Having put in a string of impressive display at the U21 European Championship in Poland, the Sporting Gijon centre-back has drawn plenty of attention towards him and the Catalan giants Barcelona seem to be the last club to join the race, El Mundo Deportivo has learned.
Mere is contracted to Sporting Gijon until 2020 and would be available for €15 million which is perceived to be quite affordable given the huge potential of the talented player, who is tipped to become a huge star in the future.
Jorge Mere has two concrete offers on his table from Sampdoria and Fiorentina, whereas Real Betis, Malaga and Valencia have all registered interest in the Spanish starlet.
With Barcelona prepared to enter the race for his signature there is a good possibility that the powers will shift with the Catalan giants now emerging firm favourites for Mere’s signature.
