Barcelona join race for Abdennour

Champions League winners Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, L’Equipe can reveal.

The Tunisian has already been linked with moves to Juventus, AC Milan and few other top clubs, and it looks as though the Catalans are keen as well.

Abdennour’s representatives met with Barcelona chiefs on Thursday to negotiate a possible deal, but they have been told the Catalans will not be making their interest concrete this summer.

With the transfer ban forbidding them from registering new players before January 2016, chances are the Spanish giants will only step up their efforts next summer.

Aymen Abdennour has done really well since moving to French Ligue 1 from Etoile du Sahel, making a total of 101 league appearances for Toulouse and Monaco.

Many believed that the Principality club overpaid the 25-year-old when they splashed out €13 million on his services, but they will soon make a healthy profit on the central defender.
