Barcelona join race for River Plate hotshot
Barcelona have entered the race to sign River Plate midfielder Lucas Ocampos, according to Argentine Radio Continental.
The Catalans continue their search for emerging football talents and they have been alerted of the youngster’s amazing potential.
According to Radio Continental, Barcelona officials have contacted the player’s representative with a view of making a summer bid for the 17-year-old.
The Spanish giants are likely to face a stiff competition for the player’s signature, seeing that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Milan and Chelsea are also keen.
Lucas Ocampos, who turns 18 in July, is already considered a key member of the squad at Monumental.
The young midfielder has been an ever present for River Plate this season, having started all 23 league games, while scoring 5 goals in the process.
Lille star confirms departure plans
Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy admits that he is likely to leave les Dogues at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in France and he is attracting interest from major European clubs.
The France international claims that he is currently focused on Lille, but he doesn’t rule out a summer transfer.
“I do not know, I am not thinking (about a transfer) too much for now, but we’ll see later in the season, I would also like to discover another championship,” Debuchy told Canal Football Club, a TV show on French Canal Plus.
“The possibility of playing in the Champions League would have a significant effect on my decision.
”If I leave, I think it will be to a foreign club.”
The player, who set up both goals in France’s 2-1 friendly victory over Germany last week, has confirmed that he was contacted by Valencia.
“I have had a contact with Valencia, but I am focusing on the finish of the season.”
Debuchy has been in excellent form this season and he even managed to score 5 goals in 25 Ligue 1 games for Lille.
Tottenham closing in on Junior Hoilett
Tottenham appear to be leading the race to sign Blackburn Rovers winger Junior Hoilett, The Mirror claims.
Spurs have been following the 21-year-old for a while now and they are hoping to sign the player at a cut-back price in the summer.
Hoilett has just a couple of months left on his deal at Ewood Park and everything suggests the player will not accept an offer to extend his current contract.
That basically means that the transfer fee will be set by a tribunal should he agree to join Tottenham.
A move to another English club could prove to be a good option as Blackburn will receive even less money if he joins a club from abroad.
The player, who scored 3 goals and set up 4 more in 23 Premier League games this term, is also followed by Arsenal, which is why Spurs are in a hurry to wrap up the deal.
