The Daily Star is reporting that Barcelona are keen to sign Manchester United goal-keeper David De Gea, should Victor Valdes leave the club.
Valdes hasn’t been as reliable as Tito Vilanova would have wanted this season and he doesn’t seem to have the amount of trust in him that he should with a shot-stopper.
Also, he is coming towards the end of his career and Barca want to bring in a new keeper to work alongside him for a little while, before jumping straight into the hot seat.
De Gea has found life tough at Manchester United and struggled to cope with the physical side of the English Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson is often rotating his men between the sticks, which is frustrating for the Spaniard and not exactly ideal for the United boss.
That is why a move to the Nou Camp could be on the cards as it might suit both clubs. The stumbling block could be the transfer fee as United paid £17 million for De Gea, so will want to sell for more than that.
It is a story to keep an eye on and with just over two weeks left in the January window, Barcelona might have to act quickly.
