A report from the Daily Mirror suggests that Barcelona could be ready to make a shock move for Newcastle goal-keeper Tim Krul, to act as cover for Victor Valdes.
The Dutchman has impressed in his time in the North East and is considered as one of the most talented ‘keepers in the English Premier League.
His fantastic form last campaign helped the Magpies to a fifth place finish in the top flight, and now the La Liga giants are keen to secure his services in the January transfer window.
It is likely that Newcastle would only accept a big transfer fee as they do not want to lose their current number one, especially in the middle of the season.
Krul himself may not be too keen on the move if it means sitting on the bench most weekends.
However, with the potential prospect of Champions League football and the possibility of winning a t whole host of trophies at the Nou Camp – he could be tempted by a move to Barca.
It is sure to all depend on what sort of offer the Catalan club put forward, if any – but the English side are sure to issue a hands off warning.
